Our Story

A legacy of love and flavour, carried from a small town in Punjab to tables around the world.

A Legacy of Love & Flavour

Every great dish starts with a simple, honest ingredient. For us, that ingredient was a shared dream rooted in family history. Long before we expanded across Punjab, our story began with three brothers who shared more than just a last name — they shared a burning desire to build something of their own. They knew their worth, believed fiercely in one another, and carried a passion to make a distinct mark on the world.

Honouring the Roots

The true culinary heartbeat of our family started two generations ago in the small town of Adampur, Punjab. There, our grandfather, Late Shri Sant Ram, served the community as a Master Halwai, pouring love and tradition into every sweet and savoury dish he created. His son, Late Shri Girdhari Lal, preserved this passion, ensuring that this exceptional culinary artistry and commitment to flavour remained the foundation of our food legacy. Initially, life took the three brothers down separate paths, each working in different jobs. Yet, the legacy of Late Shri Sant Ram and Late Shri Girdhari Lal called them back.

The Leap of Faith

Driven by their parents' sacred blessings, the trio took a monumental leap of faith. In 1995, they left the security of their separate careers, humbled themselves, and learned the intricate details of the restaurant craft from scratch. They decided it was time to revive and reinvent their grandfather's timeless legacy for a new generation. With that bold step, Ambala Chaat House was born.

Growing with Grace

What started as a single, passionate venture blossomed beautifully. Guided by hard work, mutual trust, and the love of our guests, Ambala Chaat House grew gracefully, consistently, and steadily. That first kitchen soon expanded into multiple branches across Punjab, carrying the same authentic taste, crisp chaats, and warmth to new cities. Today, while our footprint has grown — reaching all the way to Edmonton, Canada — our core mission remains unchanged. We are still the same family, standing together, honouring our ancestors, and proudly distributing love in the form of food.
